LONDON (AFP) ? Stocks ended stronger on Friday as investors were reassured by a Franco-German summit on the Greek debt crisis.
The benchmark FTSE 100 index of top shares rose 0.28 percent at 5,714.94 points.
Vodafone was the most widely traded stock of the day, with 193 million shares changing hands, followed by Lloyds Banking Group (LBG), which saw 164 million units switch owners.
Aggreko was also the best blue-chip performer, rising 2.41 percent -- or 0.45 pence -- to finish at 1911, followed by 3I Group, which rose 2.27 percent -- or 6 pence -- at 270.
Kingfisher was the biggest faller of the day, shedding 1.23 percent -- or 3.30 pence -- to close at 264.7, followed by Inmarsat, which slipped 1.22 percent -- or 7 pence -- to finish at 564.5.
On the currency markets, a pound was worth 1.6180 dollars at 17:03 BST, up from 1.6158 at the same time on Thursday, while it stood at 1.1295 euros, down from 1.1374 over the same period.
